Tea Journey - Teas Time!
Some highlights of tea tradition history can be found in Old-Tea-Traditions. Here I am going to highlight some specific countries with rich tea traditions.

ChinaTea basically originated in China, big surprise huh? Wikipedia has a good article on History of tea in Chine if a person want to learn about the historical aspects. There are numerous articles available on this subject. For example, did you know that tea was once used as money? This article will discuss that aspect of tea. The tradition of mixing various flowers and herbs is widely done in China with Jasmine being a favorite for several generations in the Northern provinces. You can read more about tea in China at
Ireland is the largest tea consumer per capita than any country in the world. They take their tea VERY seriously!

Irish tea is served generally three times a day; 11:00 in the morning, 3:00-5:00 for afternoon tea and a high tea at 6:00 pm, serving as the evening meal. Many think of high tea as formal or fancy, but it's actually a working man's tea that serves as a meal. Afternoon tea is the more "fancy" of the three teas-the one with scones, breads, jam, curds and other dainties.

Russia is usually thought of for vodka consumption. Which is true, they do drink a lot of vodka. However, in 1796, Russia was consuming over six thousand camel loads of tea per annum, more than 3.5 million pounds! For more informaion on Russian tea history can be found at
