Tea Journey - Teas Time!
There is a wealth of information available on this subject from a variety of sources.

When we were planning our youngest daughter's wedding, Entertaining.com was were went for our menu and portion planning. So that is a good place to start, Hosting an Afternoon Tea Party is a planner that has many tips for planning a wonderful tea, even recipes and other suggestions depending upon the occaision.

Here are my suggestions for a successful teatime:

  1. Buy quality tea. Our online store has many fine quality teas. Most teas employ the use of a black tea, but any good tea will do. Herb teas are also acceptable. (Click here if you'd like to learn how to make a good pot of tea.)
  2. Use a clean tablecloths. Always lay a fresh one before teatime.
  3. Purchase or make cookies, scones or muffins. We carry an excellent scone mix with all the trimmings. In a pinch, you may use toast and jam for teatime with just as much success. If young ones are involved, it is often nice to include cut up fruit as well.
  4. Use nice ceramics. Put out milk in a cream pot, sugar (lumps are fun) or honey and jam in a little bowl with a spoon. For a more formal tea, all the service should really match. For an informal event different tea cups for each person can be fun. Put out a small plate with a napkin and a teaspoon and knife at each place setting.
  5. A centerpiece is a nice touch. For a formal tea flowers are suggested. For everyday teas, just about anything nice, such as a seasonal arrangement, will do. Candles add a certain flair as well and be sure to vary the colors with the seasons.
  6. Family Tea With Children: Tea time can be a delightful memory for your children. I would suggest you or the children read something aloud during tea time. Poetry or a favorite story should do.
  7. Begin by pouring tea for everyone. Take time to add sugar or honey and milk. Pass the snacks around. Taking time to add butter and jam etc.

Once everyone has his or her tea and food, the real party begins. Try it; you'll be hooked.
