Tea Journey - Oolong
leaf Oolong tea takes on the better characteristics of Green Tea (unfermented) and Black tea (100% fermented). The aroma is strong and pleasant and the tea leaves a mellow and long lasting aftertaste.

Folklore and legends of snakes and dragons abound in Asian culture. So it is not suprising that these are common in the food and tea. One can read about those in the Wikipedia Oolong article, here we will try to summarize some of the articles found on the Internet regarding Oolong tea.
Oolong (sometimes Wulong or Wu Long) Tea is partially fermented, it is between black and green teas on the processing scale. Some say oolong is delicately processed, we suppose this indicates it is not a simple process. Oolong, simply put, is a tea that has been fired like a black tea but not as long. Oolongs have a wonderful smokiness to them. Most of the great Oolongs come from Japan.

This tea is surprisingly good iced with orange and sugar. Oolong tea has become popular in recent years due to a recent study from Japan claiming the tea can increase the body's ability to burn fat. Demand for this tea has skyrocketed, in some case limited supplies are available. The strength of the writings have lessened a bit lately, some saying the studies suggest rather than claim, big difference in our book.

If one says they have not tasted Oolong tea, but has eaten in a Chinese resturant and had tea, they are probably mistaken. This is because Oolong tea is the type of tea most commonly served in Chinese restaurants.

In my opinion, one of the best places to find information on the Internet today is in Wikipedia. If you have not yet seen articles on this free platform, you are missing some of the best of the web. For this subject, reading about Oolong on Wikipedia is very factual and informative. I am not advertising Wiki, just pointing out the wealth of information afailable there. So, when you are looking at search results from Yahoo or Google referencing Wikipedia, take a look.
